GRAPHIC DESIGNER & PRINTMAKER
Hi there! I am Raoul, I am what people usually call a 'Creative'. I carry this badge with pride, I love to create, in the broadest sense of the word. I like to play around with shapes, objects, inks, paper, letters, concepts and colours.
My journey into graphic design and printmaking actually began with skateboarding. The skateboard subculture is filled to the brim with cheeky graphics, bold colours, humour, a DIY mindset, a no-nonsense approach and an absolute hang for freedom. These aspects are now fundamental parts of my visual style; loud, wacky, fun, eclectic and full of colour.
Later in Art School I stumbled upon a screen printed gig poster designed by two local design superstars kickstarted my interest in the said technique. What followed were countless hours honing my screen print and Riso skills in the graphic workshop of my hometown 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands.
And voila, all these things combined are what Studio Turbo is; quirky, colourful, playful, bold and always with a good dose of humour.
WHAT I BELIEVE IN
DIGITAL MEETS PHYSICAL
When working on a new print or design project I always try to incorporate some analog input in the artwork.
Mainly because I believe adding something handmade gives a more human (and sometimes imperfect) touch.
BOLD COLOURS
What would the world be without some colour? I think there is already more than enough dull and grey stuff out there.
I want to change that and add loud colours to our world; bright pink, neon green, deep purple & carmine red. Let's go!
FUN & FRIENDLYNESS
We can all agree on that the world does not need any more negativity and for sure could use more fun and lightheartedness.
That is why I made it my personal quest to sprinkle visual joy in the lives of my clients and customers worldwide.
